Get to Know Rachel
Rachel Mawhirter is a young, energetic professional with a passion for social media and design, and a knack for public relations and marketing strategy. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership, she started her career working in sales and communications in the nonprofit sector, where creativity and customer service were critical to her success. From there, she managed the Marketing & Physician Recruiting department for the local hospital before launching her own company in 2015. Today, she and her business partner, Josh, own the only award-winning brand management and design firm in Central Kansas. They work with companies all over the Midwest on improving their branding, their websites, and their marketing strategy.
Rachel and her husband, Justin, also own a growing construction company. Outside of their busy careers, they have two boys (8 and 5) and are active in their community. Rachel has been involved with numerous organizations, such as Barton County Young Professionals, Central Kansas Development Inc, Prairie Godmothers, 100 People Who Care, ElderCare, Habitat for Humanity, MOPS, and her church. She is also active in local government, and is currently running for Mayor in the City of Great Bend. Earlier this year, she was honored with the NextGen Leader of the Year award. When they aren’t working as volunteers, Rachel and Justin have been compared to the “Chip & Joanna” of Great Bend, having renovated and sold 6 homes in 10 years. Campaign Priorities & Ideas
People have a choice to live here, visit here, and do business here. Let’s build a better brand internally and externally by treating our employees, residents and visitors more like customers. Businesses can’t grow in a stagnant environment, and neither can cities. Together, we can improve policies and morale within the City of Great Bend.
